Wordpress or Squarespace?

Which should you choose? You may feel like everyone has a Wordpress website and that it would be the best option for you. Or maybe you have been recommended Wix or another self build option. Below are a few pointers to help you make the right decision for you.

Wordpress

This is a platform that can be cleverly customised using coding and themes. Historically is was the main platform most web agencies would go to as it allows them full control of the website. In my opinion here is where the problem is; the developer or web designer has control of YOUR website. In most cases a website needs updating, it is rare that you would not want to make changes. If you are unable to make those changes yourself then you have to rely on paying your web designer and fitting in with their schedule. If you do choose to go with wordpress I suggest you stress to your designer the need for you to update the website and ensure you get the proper training from them.

It was built for developers and therefore the interface is more complex and can be intimidating to the average non-coder.

Squarespace

It is the best of both worlds, it is simple to use for normal non-techy business owners but has the ability to be customised and coded to tailor to all industries and uses. Squarespace has been designed for make it simple to update. If you want to add weekly blogs, events or change images it is possible in just a few clicks of the button. If you forget there are easy to follow video tutorials to help. Squarespace has 24/7 helpdesk to answer any questions or queries you may have. The designs are elegant and optimised ensuring your website makes an impact.

Over the past 5 years I have watched as many business owners struggled trying to update and maintain their Wordpress website. Switch to Squarespace and I promise you will not regret it.
